"Je Fais De Toi Mon Essentiel"

I did not write here, but remember, that you can find me on my Facebook page: "Music in My Life". You can also post there songs you want me to write about, show what kind of music do prefer, or just like songs I post.
"Je Fais De Toi Mon Essentiel" is on my playlist for a very long time. And I listen to it really often. Although I don't know French, I sing it every time I hear it.

Emmanuel Moire is a French singer. He acted Louis XIV in the musical "Le Roi Soleil" between  2004 and 2007. The song "Je Fais De Toi Mon Essentiel" comes from this musical. He released it in 2005. In this song you can also hear Anne-Laure Girbal who acted Marie Mancini.

Here you can listen to live version:

The song is quite popular, especially in France. It was sung even by Garou, Natasha St Pier Tina Arena and Juie Zenatti.

Original lyrics:

Si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne
Si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne

Tu sais mon amour

Si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne
(si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne)
Si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne...
(si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne...)

Je ferai de toi mon essentiel
(mon essentiel)
Si tu veux qu'on s'apprenne
Qu'on s'appartienne...

Lyrics are really beautiful ;) I found English translation:

I know your love
I know the water poured/spilled on my body
Feeling its course day after day
I have overcome torments
In order to approach it again
I have your desire anchored to mine
I have your desire anchored to me
Come , nothing can hold us back
Everything is up to us

I'm making you my essential
You raise me up above all others
The one that I want more than anyone
If you want us to learn one another.

You know my love
You know the words underneath my silence
Those that admit, cover, and Discover
I offer you beliefs
To avert absence.

I have the future engraved in your hand
I have the future traced as you write it
Well ,nothing takes us further than a gesture that brings us back.

I'm making you my essential
You raise me up above all others
I'm making you my essential
The one that I want more than anyone
If you want that we learn one another

I will make you my essential
My essential
If you want that we learn one another
Or that we belong to one another

"Prześliczna Wiolonczelistka"

I was thinking very long what to write about. But yesterday Wojciech Młynarski died. He was one of the greatest Polish poet. He wrote many songs. "Prześliczna Wiolonczelistka" is one of his songs.

"Prześliczna Wiolonczelistka" ("Beautiful cellist") was sung by Skaldowie, and released in 1968 in the album "Cała jesteś w skowronkach". It was composed by Andrzej Zieliński and lyrics were written by Wojciech Młynarski. The woman who inspired Młynarski to write lyrics was Anawa - Anna Wójtowicz. She  was a cellist in Skaldowie.

In 1971 Skaldowie recorded this song in German - "Das is die Violoncellistin" and after a year in Russian.

The song was olso sung by Skaldowie with changed lyrics - as a "Beautiful receptionist".

The song is very popular and was covered many times, especially during competitions.

Polish satirist Artur Andrus wrote lyrics about nasty cello - "Paskudny wiolonczelista", and sung it with MoCart Group. I didn't find the translation of lyrics, but I try to tell you what the song is about ;)

It seemed the fame is already standing at the door,
Recognition and applause and MTV,
Champagne in dressing rooms in Paris and Bonn,
But how do you like it, when his coming in?

Nasty cellist, la, la , la, la
The special sign, la,la, la, la
Without prospective la, la, la, la
Life wreck la, la, la, la
Criminals

We found him in the forest, he told us that
His name is Wiesiek, and he don't eat much.
That he lost hope, that fate will give him something
That he's not pretty, but he plays well.

 Nasty cellist
Maybe someone wants buy back him from us.
He's faithful like a dog
Fragrant like liliac
He's ugly but not stupid

Newspaper or beret to cover his face
and children won't be scared anymore
In the evening over the bed you will hang him and
Lullabies to your ear, Wiesio will hum to you

Lyrics written by Wojciech Młynarczyk:

Though I know a hundred syphonies by heart
Still rush the philharmonic, because there
Right next to the conductor decked out in tailcoat
She's sitting, excited about her role

Gorgeous vio violo violoncellist la la la
Gorgeous vio violo violoncellist
Her eyes shining, la la la, her lips trembling la la la
When she la la la presses the strings

Muse is banding over her forehead
Cos that's the moment has come
And a great conductor gives a sign with his baton
Ans she, inspired, she will play like this

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la

Gorgeous vio violo violoncellist la la la
Eh, grip her and giddy-up to the end of the world
Her eyes shining la la la la, let the hearts tremble la la la la
Let the spring in set la la la la go wild in flowers

And she will be by me, I'll be where she will
And her Polyhymnia won't be bad
That other conductor will give a sign with his baton
For two hearts to sing together like

La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la

"Frozen"

Today's post will be longer. Finally I've got more time to write ;) Remember to visit a Facebook page: "Music in My Life".
"Frozen" isn't on my playlist, never was. Someone just told that I should write about it.

"Frozen" is a song by Madonna, released as the lead song from her seventh studio album "Ray of Light" (1998). The song was also included on the compilation albums "GHV2" (2001) and "Celebration" (2009). It was written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard.

The song received acclaim from music critics. It was described as being a masterpiece, and its melodic beat and sound were defined as "cinematic". The song was worldwide chart success, peaking at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Madonna's sixth number-two single and artist with most number-two hits in the history of that chart (surpassing Elvis Presley). Sal Cinquwmani from "Slant Magazine" gave the song a positive review, praising its production and claiming it was "one of the great pop masterpieces of the 1990s. Its lyrics are uncomplicated but its statement is grand."

A low quality snippet of "Frozen" was leaked by fans on January 1998,after it debuted on radio in Singapore, and posted it o the Internet. They said they knew what they doing was wrong, but that they hoped it would simply generate interest from Madonna. Shortly after the song leaked, a remix version of "Frozen" was broadcast by the BBC website, and also was previewed on the soundtrack at the 1998 Versace fashion spring parade.

The song is about a cold and emotionless man.  In an interview with "The New York Times",Madonna commented that the lyrics to "Frozen" is built around "retaliation, revenge, hate, regret, that's what I deal with in "Frozen". Everyone's going to say 'That's a song about Carlos' [her ex-boyfriend], but it's not really, it's just about people in general".

I wanted to show you Acquaviva's song ("Ma vie fout le camp"), but I can not find it :(

In November 2005, a Belgian judge ruled that the opening four-bar theme to "Frozen" was plagiarizes from the song "Ma vie fout le camp" ("My Life's Getting Nowhere"), composed by Salvatore Acquaviva. The judge forbade any further playing of the song Belgian TV and radio. Acquaviva's lawyer said: "We tried to reach a friendly agreement... but they didn't want to negotiate so I sued for plagiarism. They have stolen a song, so they have to pay the value of the song." No award damages for the song were granted. Consequently, the song was omitted from the track listing on the Belgian pressings of "Celebration".

I also couldn't find a song "Blood Night", so let me know if you find it ;)

In February 2014, a Belgian court revealed the verdict on the case and proclaimed that Madonna did not plagiarize Acquaviva's song. The court spoke od a new capital offense in the file: composer Edouard Scotto Di Suaccio and societies Tabata Atoll Music and Music in Paris had also filed a complaint for plagiarism. According to them, both "Ma vie fout le camp" and "Frozen" originated in the song "Blood Night" which they composed in 1983. After all three tracks in the case were compared, the final ruling was that the songs were "not sufficiently original to claim" that any plagiarism had taken place. This ruling ended the eight-year ban of the song.

"Frozen" has been covered by a number of artists. A rock cover was recorded by Jeff Scott Soto with the Talisman band for their album "Truth" (1998). Polish industrial metal band Thy Disease used parts of the original strings and vocals in a cover on their album "Devilsh Act of Creation" (2001).
The song was also covered by: Girls Under Glass, Mad'House, Gene Loves Jezebel, Absinth Effect. It was also featured in the 2010 "Glee" episode "The Power Of Madonna", thought it was not performed by the cast.

Lyrics:

You only see what your eyes want to see
How can life be what you want it to be
You're frozen
When your heart's not open

You're so consumed with how much you get
You waste your time with hate and regret
You're broken
When your heart's not open

Mmmmm if I could melt your heart
Mmmmm we'd never be apart
Mmmmm give yourself to me
Mmmmm you hold the key

Now there's no point in placing the blame
And you should know I suffer the same
If I lose you
My heart will be broken

Love is a bird
She needs to fly
Let all the hurt inside of you die
You're frozen
When your heart's not open

Mmmmm if I could melt your heart
Mmmmm we'd never be apart
Mmmmm give yourself to me
Mmmmm you hold the key

You only see what your eyes want to see
How can life be what you want it to be
You're frozen
When your heart's not open

Mmmmm if I could melt your heart
Mmmmm we'd never be apart
Mmmmm give yourself to me
Mmmmm you hold the key x2

If I could melt your heart

"If a Song Could Get Me You"

Today I don't have much time, so this post will be short. But you can find me on a Facebook page: "Music in My Life" ;)

"If a Song Could Get Me You" is a song by Norwegian singer Marit Larsen. It's her first international single, and was released in Norway, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in 2009.

The song deals with a broken relationship - she would do everything (try every song) to get her ex-boyfriend back.

In Norway the single entered the chart at #1 and stayed there for two weeks. The song peak this place also in Germany and Austria.

Lyrics:

I could try with the waltz
I could try rock’n'roll
I could try with the blues
If a song would dig you

I could sing it high or low
When I let you go, you know
I thought it was for the best
Now it is so obvious

So here it is, here it goes
I could try it rock’n'roll
A change your life forever tune
If a song could get me you
I could make it high or low
Sing it on the radio
If that is what I need to do
If a song could get me you

I could run for miles and miles
I’d take off and I’d start flying
I could cross land and sea
If you’d just believe me

I should not have hurt you so
This old house is not a home
Without you here there’s no use
I’ve got no time left to lose

So here it is, here it goes
I could try it rock’n'roll
Change-your-life-forever-tune
If a song could get me you
I could make it high or low
Sing it on the radio
If that is what I need to do
If a song could get me you

If a song could get me through
I’d sing my way right back to you
Tell me how to make it right
Tell me now, I’ll start tonight
I know I could make it last

I swear to you that if I knew
What I was getting myself into
I wouldn’t answer to my fears
I’d never leave you standing there

Just look at me

If you’d only see me
I would prove my love for you
I could swallow half the moon
Just tell me where, tell me when
I will have you back again

Yeah here it is, here it goes
I could try it rock’n'roll
A change-your-life-forever-tune
If a song could get me you
I could make it high or low
Sing it on the radio
If that is what I need to do
If a song could get me you

Yeah, here it is, here it goes
I could try it rock’n'roll
A change-your-life-forever-tune
If a song could get me you
I could make it high or low
Sing it on the radio
If that is what I need to do
If a song could get me you

"Our House"

I couldn't write lately, but you can visit Fb page: "Music in My Life" ;)
"Our House" was quite popular song. It's still on my playlist and listen to it very often.

"Our House" is a song by English band Madness. It was released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, "The Rise & Fall", on 12 November 1982. The song won the Best Song award at the 1983 Ivor Novello Awards.

The song picked at #5 in the UK single chart and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Our House" was Madness' only Top 10 hit in the US. Much of the song's success was down to its witty music video that went down well during the early days of MTV.

The song was used in many TV shows and series, for example in 1985 "Our House" was the theme song for a children's drama series, Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest. The version featured on the show was performed by the cast member.

A 1992 episode of Spitting Image featured a satirical version of the song highlighting the negative equity crisis being faced by many British homeowners at the time.

The original recording was also used as the theme for a 1998 series The Estate Agents.
The song was also used in 2002  in a musical called "Our House",which featured Madness' songs.

An altered version of this song was used in a Maxwell House commercial and the real version was featured in a montage for an episode of the BBC comedy, "My Family", as well as for a 2004 American reality game, "House of Dreams".

The song was played in a 2007 series of TV advertisements for Bird's Eye, which featured Suggs.
The song was also used in reality game show "Opportunity Knocks", and in US TV show "Brothers & Sisters".

At the 2012 Olympic Games Madness performed "Our House" in the closing Olympic ceremonies during an elaborate light show with scores of dancers.

The song's video featured the band as a cloth-cap wearing family squashed into a terraced house. Drummer Dan "Woody" Woodgate recalled to Q Magazine August 2008: "The knocking-on-the-door bit where somebody comes out, goes, 'Where are they?' and the others sneak in and close the door… That's The Flintstones. We stole lots of ideas from the Keystone Kops and Benny Hill."

Lyrics:

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother`s tired she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister`s sighing in her sleep
Brother`s got a date to keep
He can`t hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our ...

Our house it has a crowd
There`s always something happening
And it`s usually quite loud
Our mum she`s so house-proud
Nothing ever slows her down
And a mess is not allowed

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our ...

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our ...
Something tells you that you`ve got to get away from it

Father gets up late for work
Mother has to iron his shirt
Then she sends the kids to school
Sees them off with a small kiss
She`s the one they`re going to miss
In lots of ways

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our ...

I remember way back then when everything was true and when
We would have such a very good time such a fine time
Such a happy time
And I remember how we`d play simply waste the day away
Then we`d say nothing would come between us two dreamers

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother`s tired she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister`s sighing in her sleep
Brother`s got a date to keep
He can`t hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our street

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our ...

Our house, was our castle and our keep
Our house, in the middle of our street

Our house, that was where we used to sleep
Our house, in the middle of our street

Our house, in the middle of our street

"Secrets"

I couldn't decide what song to write about.. I still want to show you so many songs :) Don't forget to visit a Facebook page: "Music in My Life" and show songs you want me to write about.
"Secrets" is on my playlist for many years and I listen to it very often.

"Secrets" is the second single from OneRepublic's second studio album "Waking Up". It was released as the first single in Germany and Austria owing to its presence on the soundtrack of Til Schweiger's movie "Zweiohrküken" ("Rabbit Without Ears 2") - this movie is the sequel to the film "Keinohrhasen", for which "Apologize" was the film soundtrack.

The song was released in the United States iTunes Store on November 2009.

"Secrets" was prominently used and featured in the soundtrack of the 2010 film "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", and was also used to launch the "Big Pony Collection" fragrance line for Ralph Lauren. An instrumental version of "Secrets" also featured prominently in the FaceTime portion of Apple's iPhone 4 video introduction in 2010. In the same year, it was used in many promotional trailers for ABC Family's new series "Pretty Little Liars". In 2011, the song was featured as runway soundtrack at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The song has been heavily utilized in network promotional advertising for various series and several other film trailers in the United States.

Since December 2013, an acoustic version of the song performed by the Piano Guys has been used in the 'Simon the Ogre' adverts for the "Thomson Travel Agents".

In 2014, Katherine Jenkins released the album "Home Sweet Home", which included the song in Italian as "Segreti".

There are many covers, I post here only few of them ;)

Lyrics:

I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
Til' all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that will light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

My God, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasing all those stars
Who's driving shiny big black cars
And everyday I see the news
All the problems that we could solve
And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold
I don't really like my flow, no, so

Tell me what you want to hear
Something that are like those years
Sick of all the insincere
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Oh, got no reason, got no shame
Got no family I can't blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'mma tell you everything

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that'll light those ears
Sick of all the insincere
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics never jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that delight those ears
Sick of all the insincere
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away
All my secrets away, all my secrets away

"O Tannenbaum"

It's time for Christmas songs :) Hopefully I write one more post about other Christmas song. But also you can read posts from last year: Merry Christmas!, "Last Christmas", "Stille Nacht Heilige Nacht"

And don't forget to like my Facebook page: "Music in My Live" ;)

"O Tannenbaum" is a German Christmas song. Based on traditional folk song, it became associated with the traditional Christmas tree by the early 20th century and sung as Christmas carol.

The modern lyrics were written in 1824, by Ernst Anschütz. The lyrics do not actually refer to Christmas, or describe a decorated Christmas tree. Instead, they refer to the fir's evergreen qualities as a symbol of constancy and faithfulness.

Anschütz based his text on a 16th-century Silesian folk song by Melchior Franck "Ach Tannenbaum". Joachim August Zarnack in 1819 wrote a tragic love song inspired by the folk song, taking evergreen, faithful fir tree as contrasting with a faithless lover. The folk song first became associated with Christmas with Anschützl who added two verses of his own to the first, traditional verse. His version have treu as the adjective describing needles, harking back to the contrast to the faithless maiden of the folk song. This was changed to grün, after the song had come to be associated with Christmas.

The tune has been used with other lyrics for many occasions, f. ex. "The Red Flag" (anthem to a British and Irish Labour Parties), as a official state song in Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Iowa,
"O Parador" (in a movie "Moon over Parador" in 1988), as a schools songs, and many others.

The Might be Giants recorded this song in 1993. It was also in the Disney version of "The Swiss Family Robinson", and covered by: Vince Guaraldi, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Mannheim Steamroller, Tony Bennet, Psychostick, Celtic Woman and many many others.

Original lyrics:

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein, auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Wie treu sind deine Blätter!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat nicht zur Weihnachtszeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

One English version:

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us!
They are green when summer days are bright,
They are green when winter snow is white.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!
How oft at Christmas tide the sight,
O green fir tree, gives us delight!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Forever true your colour.
Your boughs so green in summertime
Stay bravely green in wintertime.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Forever true your colour.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
You fill my heart with music.
Reminding me on Christmas Day
To think of you and then be gay.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
You fill my heart with music.

Another version:

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
How are thy leaves so verdant!
Not only in the summertime,
But even in winter is thy prime.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure dost thou bring me!
For ev’ry year the Christmas tree,
Brings to us all both joy and glee.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure dost thou bring me!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are thy branches!
Not only green when summer's here
But in the coldest time of year.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are thy branches!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How sturdy God hath made thee!
Thou bidd'st us all place faithfully
Our trust in God, unchangingly!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How sturdy God hath made thee!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Thy candles shine out brightly!
Each bough doth hold its tiny light,
That makes each toy to sparkle bright.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Thy candles shine out brightly!
